OHICS: One Health in Complex Settings

One Health is rapidly becoming the dominant way of understanding relationships between ecological, social, and biological drivers of disease.

We believe One Health offers a range of tools for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, however One Health remains largely untested in complex settings such as conflict and forced migration.

OHICS explores how One Health intelligence can support coordinated responses to biological threats across sectors and governance levels. By mapping systems, stakeholders, and information flows, the project helps identify practical pathways for more effective and integrated action.

The OHICS network project brings together multiple stakeholders from academic, industry, and policy groups to collaboratively address two key needs:

1. One Health uses intersectional interdisciplinary evidence and expertise. What policy-academic networks are required to understand novel forms of evidence to develop future One Health policies in complex settings?

2. Barriers to evidence sharing exist between security and development fields. How can the case of One Health in conflict be used to co-create new solutions between policy, academia, and practice?
